New study by reveals shocking numbers of Irish employees want to change their career

A brand new study has revealed some shocking statistics among Irish workers, as we all try to adapt to a new hybrid working model.

startling 52 percent of Irish employees feel unfilled in their current jobs, according to new research.

What’s even more shocking is that a whopping 72 percent of the sample workforce dreamt of making a name for themselves in a NEW job role.

The new hiring platform also asked respondents what was holding them back from taking the plunge with 40 percent blaming their relationship, 36 percent listing ‘anxiety’ and 30 percent developing a simple fear of failure as the reason for not changing their career.

The Irish company today announced details of its #BrandofYou programme – a special series of supports responsively developed in partnership with popular local experts in the areas of Wellness and Finance, in an attempt to demystify the barriers to job change.

With insights from the latest Jobs Index showing a 44percent year on year increase in the number of jobs available to potential candidates, the hiring specialists conducted a survey to understand the leading barriers to change, with emotions the most potent driver of the decision-making process.

Understanding the importance of health and wellness to Ireland’s workforce, IrishJobs has partnered with leading experts Gerry and Miriam Hussey to launch the first of this #BrandofYou series, giving users FREE access to a specially curated 5-week Soul Space Elevate Programme.

“Over the next five weeks users will learn about their mental fitness, understand stress and how to calm the mind, learn why sleep is so important to concentration and how connecting with the right network and learning to unplug will inspire and motivate them towards becoming the best version of themselves – creating that all important #BrandofYou.”

The special 5-week #BrandofYou Soul Space Elevate Programme topics will include:

Week 1: Developing your mental fitness. Understanding and becoming more aware of yourself-talk will help you make a name for yourself on whatever career path you choose.

Week 2: Understanding stress & finding calm. If your work-life balance is preventing you from prioritising what’s important to you, that absence of fun and laughter could be what’s causing you to feel stressed.

Week 3: Enhancing sleep. Learn about the importance of sleep, both for your general health, but also for your memory recall, your concentration and your focus.

Week 4: The importance of relationships. The relationship you have with yourself is impacting those you have with others. Find out how human connections and abetter work-life balance could help you develop a better sense of self.

Week 5: The Power of Unplugging. Are you living a life where your career is in alignment with what you truly love to do? What your passionate about? Understand the importance of taking time to pause and reflect on your desires and goals – helping you make the move.

Employer transparency, whether that be emotional or financial, also ranked highly amongst surveyed Irish job seekers, with almost three quarters of all respondents more likely to apply for a role if the salary was included in the posting – even if that salary was below their initial expectations.

Commenting on the findings and the launch of #BrandofYou, Orla Moran, General Manager, said: “While the trends and research tell us that it’s an employee’s market, we wanted to better understand the factors that were preventing those unhappy in their current roles from exploring new opportunities.
