Biomedical improvements take centre phase during ‘Shark Tank’-design and style pitch competition on HS&T campus | VTx

The competition, now in its sixth year, was sponsored by the Fralin Biomedical Analysis Institute at VTC, Carilion Clinic, Woods Rogers PLC, and Clarke.

During the transdisciplinary study course, college students interacted with Virginia Tech faculty and commercialization executives, which include Friedlander, Ramey of Middleland Capital VTC Innovation Fund, and Mark Mondry, director of Launch, portion of Virginia Tech’s Link+LICENSE+Start team, which supports corporate partnerships, technological know-how commercialization, and get started-ups. 

Also training was Mark Van Dyke, previously of the School of Engineering at Virginia Tech and now associate dean of research at the College of Arizona and Samy Lamouille, an assistant professor at the analysis institute and chief executive officer of Acomhal Analysis Inc.

Howard Haines, an assistant professor of observe at the Pamplin School of Company and associate director of Virginia Tech’s Innovate Dwelling-Understanding Local community, labored with the university student teams, alongside with Pamplin pupils Julee Hong, Madeleine Marietta, and Frank Lee, who served as small business consultants.

Linda Collins, analysis and administrative coordinator of the Fralin Biomedical Study Institute Centre for Vascular and Heart Study, assisted Gourdie with coordinating the training block.
